Progress on the Hanbei Takenaka (Samurai Warriors 3) cosplay that Seally and I have been working on this past winter break. I’d say it’s about 85% complete now or so? I probably should go work on some other cosplays.

Hanbei Takenaka Cosplay (Hakama WIP) // Samurai Warriors 3
Been working on Seally’s cosplay for the past day. Watched Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Back to the Future, and Indie Game the movie while progress was made. Still need to paint in some patterns and shorten the legs/wear it properly. Tomorrow the coat will be started on.

The handle is finished and so are the touch ups, which means that this is 100% done. Have some close up shots. Onward to working on other props / cosplay pieces! Eternal shout out to Seally who helped me and will be wielding this thing.
It is a happy day when I can update my cosplay projects page with finished stuff.
In the end I should have tagged his weapon Northern Cross instead of Southern Cross because that is what this design of his weapon is called. whoops. Thats what I get for being too lazy to double check.

I was going to post a photoset only when I finished making this thing but then I got excited. 95% done, touchups on the gears and decorating the handle still need to be done. Since I’m going to be all by my lonesome tomorrow, I suppose I can finish the final things on this. After this is done I’ll probably be working on either Ieyasu’s (Basara) armguard glove things, Motochika’s (Musou) shamisen, or Kiyomasa’s spear.

SEALLY WE DID IT IT IS 90% DONE AND PIECES CAN BE PUT TOGETHER!!!!
Things that still need to be done:
-Handle (wrapping + decorating + drilling deeper)
-Back Gear (paper maching one last piece)
-Touch ups and varnishing

Slowly working on it, should be finished around 90% by the end of today. I realized what the handle looked like randomly so I have to work on that as well. I sawed to size and painted the handle portion. One gear has been varnished, the other has some parts that need to be touched up. ‘needle cover’ thing at the front has been pained and varnished (YAY SEALLY YOU GOOD LOSER)
I made a template for the stomach and back plates so that annoying pattern has been painted on. (It still needs touch ups). Tassels are in the making.

Haven’t worked on this in a while; I was too busy with Basara Masamune’s swords. But Seally is back in Canada now so she can help me. Yay! This progress was actually from last night. Watched Flying Swords of Dragon Gate while we did this. What a ridiculous movie.
Issues on the ‘Gears’ were fixed and the second one was given a second coat of paint. Textures were added one courtesy of Seally and her amazing painting skills. The paint job on the front was also started (SEALLY AGAIN).
+ Cosplay progress: Stomach and back plate have been carved, as well as the shoulder guards (…? What are they even called). Plate connectors have been shaped as well.

Oops I should start working on Hanbei’s weapon again. And I need to properly start on Motochika’s shamisen. asjfdkaj I still have the shamisen I made for physics and I’m wondering if I can build off that one… maybe i should just restart. Masamune’s swords need proper sheaths and I’ve just started on Ieyasu’s armguard things. I only have ONE completed prop that looks nice SOB. I’m spamming the tags again, aren’t I… OOPS
